Coolum Beach is a popular beachside community, north of the Maroochy River. Coolum is quite unique in that it’s geography is quite elevated yet so close to the beach. The terrain has led to the design of some spectacular architectural homes on the hillside, with stunning ocean views with the coastline literally 400m away as the crow flies. It is popular to see humpback whales migrating past in the crystal clear waters. Coolum beach has a shopping and dining esplanade that is very pedestrian friendly. The majority of Coolum is low rise housing except for a select few high rise towers (with no further high rise towers approved since). For any visitor to Coolum, a climb up Mount Coolum is a must!
